Race for PGH Updates – Acklin, Harris, Ravenstahl

Well it looks like things have been pretty quiet in the Race for PGH.

Rumor has it that Dok Harris was out an about at Pridefest and the Artsfestival.

Ravenstahl’s campaign managager has tweeted that he is bored and that he is only working 2 days a week.

Acklin is hosting a happy hour fundraiser this Thursday at the Firehouse Lounge – $20 gets you in the door and 2 drinks.

And in the world of Facebook Fan Pages:

  1. Haha, Seenster! I wasn’t referring to myself – I think the Pittsburgh Comet scooped you, since they knew exactly what I was talking about. I’m here, so come visit me in the Grant Building, Monday thru Friday 10-6. And thanks for following me on Twitter!

Also, a bit of a clarification on facebook. Don’t forget that Mayor Ravenstahl also has a “group” in addition to the fan page. The group has 877 members – which clearly means the Mayor will win in November. Clearly. ;-)

  2. Hey Seenster!
My tweet about two days and a vacation didn’t refer to me – I think the Pittsburgh Comet scooped you there. Come visit me Monday-Friday from 10-6 in the Grant Building and we can talk about it.
Also, you probably aren’t aware that Mayor Ravenstahl also has a facebook group with 877 members. And we all know that whoever has the most facebook members will win in November. ;-) Love the blog!

  3. “When you work two days a week, you shouldn’t take a vacation” … that was tweeted on the afternoon following articles appearing regarding City Council demanding Ravenstahl’s return from vacation to discuss Act 47.

The Trib version reported out that Council members only meet regularly two days per week — Tuesday and Wednesday — and detailed some of the vacations that Council members have taken in the past. (It was a bit unfair, IMO, as Council members have scattered public hearings and post-agenda scheduled throughout the week, not to mention community meetings, constituent meetings, and writing and researching legislation throughout the rest of the week.)

So I took Paul’s tweet as a dig against members of Council as folks who don’t work hard or often enough to complain about the vacations of others.

As to his being “bored” — I’ve heard that repeatedly from multiple sources on the campaign, even during the closing weeks of the primary. It’s a talking point. “There’s so little competition, we the campaign staff are BORED!”

  4. Oh, hai Paul … didn’t see your comments there. :) I had that tweet stored in my bidness file, but hadn’t found an opportunity to post it yet, so I don’t think I can take credit for that scoop.

  5. “Rumor has it that Dok Harris was out an about at Pridefest”

Dok may have been there. I didn’t see him. Kevin Acklin addressed the crowd and got the biggest applause out of all of the elected officials (except for maybe Amanda Green) when he said that he supports same sex marriage.

  6. So he got up on stage and said something? Amazing. No politician has ever done that before.

  7. “So he got up on stage and said something? Amazing. No politician has ever done that before.”

    Luke wasn’t there at all.
