OPINION: What the Pothole Announcement Really Means
| March 12, 2009 | Posted by committeegrrl under Gossip |
Anyone who has worked on a campaign or has showed up to any sort of public gathering of city council members knows that most, okay many many voters really want to talk about potholes, roads, salt and maybe parking meeters.
I think the fact that Luke Ravenstahl held his 3rd press conference this week on the ever so importnat topic of potholes means that some one is getting nervous on team Ravenstahl and they are going to right to the hot button issues to reach out to voters – potholes.
Could this be because Dowd is actaully looking into what went down at the PWSA or maybe it has something to do with Franco Harris Jr. throwing his hat into the ring?
Just a thought. What do you think about the Ravenstahl campaigns week of press conferences? What do you think we will learn about on Thursday and Friday?

What gets me isn’t that we have potholes. What gets me is that we don’t seem to be fixing potholes as efficiently as we can, or repaving streets with better-quality materials. Time after time, it is pointed out that “If you use the better stuff, even though it is more expensive at first, it will last longer and pay off in the long run!” And time after time, we are told in response, “Yeah, but that’s stuff’s pricey!” It’s like there’s a failure of communication or something I’m missing.
No one at the Ravenstahl HQ is getting nervous. It’s called the power of the incumbency.
Something DOWD can’t overcome.
