Is East Liberty Going Green?

There has been a lot of discussion happening in East Liberty about East Liberty. In April, there was a weekly discussion series about some of the development taking place at the Union Project. Chris Ivey screened his film East of Liberty.
The discussion continues this Friday at Green Drinks…
Ernie Hogan. As deputy director of East Liberty Development Inc. (ELDI), Ernie has been instrumental in drawing major investors into East Liberty, ensuring support for local, small business and promoting quality, mixed-income housing for current and prospective residents—-in other words, promoting sustainable development in East Liberty.
Ernie Hogan, and Nate Wildfire, ELDI sustainable policy coordinator, will host Green Drinks on Friday, May 16, at Bossa Nova, located at 123 7th St, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Appetizers courtesy of Bossa Nova.
The mission of ELDI is to foster the revitalization of the East Liberty community. Working in collaboration with community stakeholders, ELDI acts as a catalyst for positive change by providing leadership in the areas of planning, advocacy, image building, and investment.
Bring your friends and colleagues to hear about developing—and redeveloping— sustainable communities in Pittsburgh. You’ll meet others who share a common interest – environmentalists, journalists, academics, elected officials, green builders, green businesses and health care professionals, chemists, developers, artists, students and just about anyone who is interested in a better Pittsburgh environment. It’s a great way of catching up with people you know and for making new contacts. Everyone invites someone else along, so there’s always a different crowd, making Green Drinks an organic, self-organizing network. Pittsburgh Green Drinks meets on the 3rd Friday of each month from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Bossa Nova. Mark the date in your calendar, and we’ll email you each month with the location and the host.
