I was canvassing knocking on doors in Central Lawrenceville for most of today, and I couldn’t help but notice that, with the election only one day away, many of the households had been targeted by both campaigns. I’d be hard pressed to come up with a prediction that I felt very comfortable with, but I’d guess that Obama might win the 9th ward by a few points. Lawrenceville’s voting history does not really give too many clues. There are probably a few more Obama signs around, but of course, if signs voted then we would not even need to bother going to polls. That can be a signn of a little more enthusiasm, however. I think the difference will be made by the new voters: both new residents and residents who have lived in Lawrenceville their whole lives, but will be voting for the first time.
As a native Pittsburgher now living in California, I’m watching the Pa. primary closely. You can take the kid out of the Burg…well you know the rest. I want to ask my favorite people to strongly consider Barack Obama as our democratic nominee. There are a lot of reasons why I prefer him to Hillary, but the number one and reverberating reason is Obama promises to change the way the game is played in D.C. It costs $100,000,000 to run for president today, about thirty million for senator. Simply put, D.C. is for sale and you and I can’t afford it. Check above website for more.
I’m also interested in how Lawrenceville will vote in this one, please let us know. Having lived here for 7 years, recent elections have been seen us moving ever slightly in a more progressive direction.
I was only contacted once by the Obama campaign, and that was with a robocall.
I was robocalled many, many times by spokespeople for the Clinton campaign and rec’d mailed lit.
Also, yesterday got a robocall from Dom Costa’s campaign for State Rep., in which he asked for my vote. The thing is, I don’t live in his district…
For all of Lawrenceville (6th, 9th, and 10th wards), Clinton won 53-47. For Central Lawrenceville (9th), Clinton won 57-43.
